  • Lens to focus image
  • Means of capturing the image
  • Aperture through which the light passes
Aperture:
  • Hole or opening
  • Different sized apertures allow exposure to be varied
  • When light is low use large aperture
  • When light is high use low aperture
Shutter:
  • Mechanism to begin and end the exposure / capture
Shutter Types:
  • Focal Plane: Operates in front of the film at the focal plane
  • BTL or Leaf: Operates inside the lens much like a diaphragm
Meanings:
  • Diaphragm = Mechanism
  • Aperture = Hole - opening
  • F stop = Particular sized opening
  • Large f # = Small aperture which = less light passed
  • Small f # = Large aperture which = more light passed
  • Shutter Release = The " Magic" button
  • Exposure = Time * Intensity
  • Time = Shutter speed
  • Intensity = Aperture
